State funding, tuition and fees do not cover the cost of student and faculty research or the many unique departmental and interdisciplinary initiatives that define the Geneseo experience. Contributions from alumni, parents and friends make it possible for faculty to create and provide these opportunities for all students, regardless of financial means.

Private support allows faculty and staff to work one-on-one with students and serve as mentors who shape the professional, ethical and academic perspectives of tomorrow’s innovative leaders. Geneseo students of all disciplines take part in research and interdisciplinary coursework that is often only accessible to graduate students at other universities and colleges.

It is imperative that research opportunities and challenging intellectual pursuits that reach beyond the classroom are available to every student. Without investment in the growth and development of faculty, these opportunities will fade.
